Jiaxing scientist elected as fellow of ISC

The International Science Council (ISC) has announced its list of 100 newly elected fellows for 2023, which includes Zhu Yongguan, the vice president of ISC-China. Zhu is an eco-environmental expert and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from Jiaxing.
The ISC is a non-governmental international scientific organization that the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) has joined. The ISC fellowship, established in 2022, is the highest honor that ISC grants to individuals, aims to recognize scientists who have made contributions to the global development of science. Being named to the fellowship is the highest honor that ISC grants to individuals. To date, 10 scientists from the Chinese mainland have been elected as ISC fellows.
CAST established ISC-China in 1997 and assigned it the primary responsibility of coordinating domestic natural science and social science communities, as well as fulfilling the duties of ISC members.
Zhu has been dedicated to environmental soil science and environmental biology research for many years. He was elected as an academician of CAS in 2019 and became an academician of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World in 2020. In February 2022, he received the Von Liebig Award from the International Union of Soil Sciences, becoming the first Asian scientist to receive this honor. Notably, on Nov 8, 2022, Zhu won the fourth Feng Zikai Essay Award for his work A Record of Food Changes.
