Zhejiang sets 27 agricultural records in 2023
The Zhejiang Agricultural Records Office held a press conference and announced the province's agricultural records in 2023 on Dec 25.
According to the press conference, a total of 27 records were set this year, including 19 new records, an increase of 137.5 percent compared to the previous year.
Examples of broken records include the largest sunflower head, with a diameter of 36.5 centimeters, and a watermelon weighing 39.02 kilograms.
Zhejiang agricultural records started being tracked in 2007. Over the years, Zhejiang agriculture has continuously put more emphasis on such achievements, setting a total of 222 records.
Among the records set are 55 in grain and oil yield per mu (0.067 hectare), 28 in yields of other agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables per mu, 26 in agricultural product quality, 107 in novel and unique agricultural products, and six in agricultural skills.
According to the press conference, the Zhejiang agricultural records activity has become an important form of promoting agricultural technology, showcasing and promoting agricultural product brands, and exploring and disseminating agricultural culture. It has effectively promoted the improvement and development of high-yield grain and oil production and leading industries.
It has also supported the cultivation of a batch of agricultural product brands, promoted agricultural efficiency, increased the incomes of farmers, and contributed to the high-quality development of agriculture and rural areas.
