The second session of the 14th National People's Congress opened in Beijing on March 5, 2024.

Chen Wei, deputy to the congress and deputy director of Quzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, has long been deeply invested in matters concerning the physical and mental well-being of minors.

To gain deeper insights into the current state of child protection efforts in her city, she has conducted numerous field visits to the Kecheng District People's Court in Quzhou, Zhejiang province.

"Child protection shares common ground with disease prevention, as emphasized in traditional Chinese medicine," said Chen.

Chen said she hopes that the Supreme People's Court will further integrate its functions in criminal, civil, administrative, and public interest litigation related to minors.

By investigating and understanding the root causes of cases involving minors, she advocates for more targeted judicial interventions. Through more robust and effective legal measures, she aims to strengthen fundamental efforts in child protection and crime prevention, guiding minors toward healthy and robust growth with the support of the judicial system.
