Wenzhou to develop new quality productive forces
The government work report at the 14th National People's Congress on March 5 highlighted the importance of developing new quality productive forces.
With innovation at the forefront, new quality productive forces refer to advanced means of productivity that are free of traditional economic growth models and productivity development paths. It is characterized by advanced technology, high efficiency and high quality, and is in line with the new development philosophy.
Hu Chengzhong, deputy to the Congress and chairman of Delixi Group in Wenzhou, was particularly interested in the topic. He brought a proposal to support Wenzhou's transformation into a national new energy production capacity center and application demonstration city.
He believes that Wenzhou has great potential and a strong foundation, with many projects in the new energy industry, which is crucial for the development of the private economy.
In recent years, Wenzhou has been comprehensively developing the new energy industry. Since 2023, the city has signed 102 major new energy industry projects with a total investment of more than 200 billion yuan ($27.78 billion). Last year, the output value of new energy industry enterprises above designated size reached 151.1 billion yuan, an increase of 11.3 percent year-on-year.
He also suggested that more support should be provided at the national level for the development of deep-sea offshore wind power projects in Wenzhou, and they should be included in the national renewable energy development pilot demonstration plan.
This is the second year in a row that Hu has submitted such a suggestion, expressing the eagerness of Wenzhou's new energy industry to develop further.
