The 40-day Spring Festival travel rush in the Year of the Dragon concluded in Quzhou on March 5, with the city's transportation networks facilitating a total of 5.692 million passenger journeys across railways, highways, and civil aviation.

During this year's Spring Festival, Quzhou Railway Station dispatched a total of 516,000 passengers, averaging 12,900 passengers per day, marking a 36.1 percent increase in passenger volume compared to the previous period.

Ye Ying, a staff member at Quzhou Railway Station, noted that compared to previous Spring Festival periods, the railway passenger flow has continued to rise in 2024, primarily driven by family visits, work-related travel, and tourism.

"The number of passengers arriving at Quzhou Station has also increased by 33 percent compared to the same period in previous years, reaching 484,000 person-times," said Ye.

This year's Spring Festival saw self-driving on highways become the main mode of travel, with long-distance returns home, short-distance family visits, gatherings, and short-distance outings being the primary travel focuses.

Over the 40-day Spring Festival, the total road passenger traffic in the city reached 4.577 million person-times, a 13.2 percent year-on-year increase, with the highest daily passenger flow reaching 150,000 person-times.

Police officer Chen Xuehong from the Quzhou public security bureau said, "During the Spring Festival, the total traffic volume on our city's four expressways reached approximately 8.26 million vehicles, a 6.08 percent increase compared to the previous year."

Quzhou Airport Company announced that from Jan 26 to March 5, the airport saw a total of 1,254 flight movements, a 29 percent year-on-year increase, and a passenger throughput of 113,400 person-times, marking a 79 percent year-on-year increase.

According to airport staff, popular flight routes from Quzhou mainly focused on destinations such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Chongqing, and Haikou. During the Spring Festival period, the seat occupancy rate for some flights reached 100 percent.
