FIH Pro League 2024 (China) to open in Hangzhou
The FIH Pro League 2024 (China) will open on Nov 30 at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
The six-day event, which will conclude on Dec 5, will feature three of the world's top women's hockey teams — China, Belgium, and England, according to the event's organizers.
"I'm really glad the FIH Pro League has come to China again, and we hope fans in Hangzhou will watch the games and root for us," said Ye Jiao, who won the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Women's Goalkeeper of the Year earlier this month, in a video message.
In 2023, it was at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium that China beat the Republic of Korea 2-0 in the women's hockey final during the Hangzhou Asian Games and qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they won silver.
Thanking Hangzhou authorities, the local organizing committee, and the Chinese Hockey Association for their hard work, Tayyab Ikram, president of the FIH, said it is notable that the FIH Pro League 2024 (China) will be held at a venue of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
"It is our mission at the International Hockey Federation to achieve more and more sustainable results and enjoy the legacy of our previous events and high-quality infrastructure," he said via video link.
Launched in 2019, the FIH Pro League brings together nine of the best men's teams and nine of the best women's teams from around the world, where they compete both at home and away every year. The FIH Pro League 2024 (China) will mark the beginning of the new 2024-25 season.
Tickets for the games are now available at prices ranging from 28 yuan ($3.87) to 198 yuan.
