East China's Zhejiang province has outlined a comprehensive strategy to enhance its status as a leading cultural hub, the provincial government announced at a news conference in Hangzhou on Feb 26.

Key projects span heritage preservation, public cultural infrastructure, and tourism. Plans include developing an archaeological park centering the mausoleums of six Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) emperors, constructing a new venue for the Zhejiang Concert Hall, expanding the Zhejiang Art Museum, and enhancing the trail along the Grand Canal to integrate history with modern leisure.

The province is also deepening academic research, with continued work on Chinese painting and Chinese silk art, while laying the groundwork for a compendium of Chinese calligraphy. Specialized studies on Song Dynasty aesthetics, Liangzhu culture, Grand Canal heritage, and legacies of the Wuyue Kingdom (907-978) will complement broader initiatives focused on Wang Yangming philosophy, Taizhou's Hehe culture, and Southern Confucianism culture.

Zhejiang is resorting to technology to drive cultural innovation, investing in artificial intelligence, humanoid robotics, and digital preservation. Efforts are underway to enhance the global competitiveness of domestic AI models and embodied intelligence systems.

On the international front, the province will host events such as the Liangzhu Forum and Silk Road Week to present Zhejiang's cultural legacy to global audiences.
