East China's Zhejiang province is ramping up its support for the used car export sector as part of broader efforts to stabilize foreign trade.

The 2025 Zhejiang Used Car Export Development Conference and Industrial Belt Cross-border Procurement Docking Activity was held in Taizhou on June 5. More than 180 representatives from registered used car enterprises across the province and over 60 international buyers attended the event.

The Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, in coordination with 15 provincial-level departments, has issued a new policy titled Opinions on Further Promoting Used Car Exports in Zhejiang Province (Trial).

The document outlines 11 measures aimed at improving support services, such as strengthening enterprise development, expanding international operations, and improving after-sales services.

Provincial and local officials have taken steps to facilitate the growth of the sector. Initiatives include setting up dedicated service windows for used car exports, streamlining the export tax rebate process, and supporting enterprises in developing differentiated strategies based on their strengths.

Zhejiang has ranked first in China in terms of both volume and value of used car exports for three consecutive years. The sector has become a key contributor to the province's foreign trade stability.

From January to April 2025, Zhejiang exported 37,000 used vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 50.2 percent. Export value reached $660 million, marking a 34.2 percent rise compared to the same period last year.
