East China's Zhejiang province released the "Implementation Opinions on Accelerating High-Quality Development of the Tea Industry" on July 7, outlining growth targets and a comprehensive roadmap for strengthening the province's tea sector.

The document sets two key milestones: By the end of 2025, Zhejiang aims to expand its tea plantation area to 3.2 million mu (about 213,333 hectares) and surpass 130 billion yuan ($18.14 billion) in total industry output. By the end of 2027, the targets are expected to increase to 3.3 million mu and over 150 billion yuan.

The plan introduces 16 action measures across six focus areas. It emphasizes optimizing tea production zones and upgrading plantations, modernizing production processes, enhancing the market reach of Zhejiang tea, integrating agriculture with culture and tourism, encouraging full-chain cooperation to promote common prosperity, and reinforcing policy support and industry supervision.

To ensure implementation, the document outlines responsibilities for relevant provincial departments, emphasizing coordination and targeted support to guide the high-quality development of the tea industry.
