A new edition of the exhibition series Songs of the Earth: Artistic Documentary for a Better China kicked off in Beijing on July 28.

Gathering at the Beijing International Club, diplomats from over twenty countries, including Grenada, Slovakia, and Samoa, attended the opening ceremony and joined an international dialogue on China's ecological progress and its contribution to the world over the past two decades through a series of practical cases.

Representatives from across China also shared innovative approaches and experiences in ecological conservation and sustainable urban-rural development.

More than a retrospective, the series, now in its third edition, is intended to serve as an evolving platform for social engagement and public discourse, according to China Academy of Art, one of the organizers.

By weaving together artistry and societal action, this year's exhibition aspires to create a broader narrative space, uniting diverse changemakers to help with the nation's ongoing efforts to advance its "Beautiful China" initiative, which prioritizes ecological and environmental protection in social and economic development. said the CAA.

Designed as a "constellation" of four interconnected sections, the exhibition forms a panoramic tapestry that mirrors the complexity and systemic nature of eco-civilization. It highlights the dynamic interplay between individuals, communities, local initiatives, and national strategies — bridging present actions with future visions.

Cultural and artistic practices have evolved into proactive engines for social transformation, moving beyond their traditional decorative roles, said Gao Shiming, vice-president of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

Part of the exhibition will also be held at the Art Museum of the CAA in Hangzhou, according to the organizers.
