Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province is expanding low-altitude tourism with a new fixed-wing sightseeing product, which completed route testing on Sept 19 and is expected to start operations by the end of the month.

The flights use Diamond 40 fixed-wing aircraft, each capable of carrying up to three passengers. The planes depart from Zhoushan Putuoshan International Airport, take off after taxiing on the runway, and fly over key scenic spots of Putuo Mountain and Zhujiajian. Depending on the route, flights last between 10 and 20 minutes. During the trial, invited participants from various travel and cultural industries experienced boarding procedures, safety briefings, and emergency training before enjoying the aerial tour.

Unlike the earlier service, which focused solely on transportation, this new product emphasizes sightseeing. Compared to helicopter tours, fixed-wing flights offer a quieter ride and higher cruising speeds. Flying at an altitude of around 300 meters, passengers enjoy a bird's-eye view similar to aerial photography. This perspective avoids common ground-level visual obstructions, providing a unique "sky visit" experience.

Future plans include route optimization, customized charter packages, and partnerships with mid- to high-end travel groups. The fixed-wing sightseeing aspect adds to the region's travel experiences.
