The 2025 China Folk Arts and Crafts Exhibition opened on Oct 10 in Yongkang, a county-level city of Jinhua, Zhejiang province, and will run until Oct 19.
The event features four exhibitions: the China folk arts and crafts invitational exhibition, the 17th Shanhua Award of Chinese Folk Literature and Art — excellent folk arts and crafts final evaluation exhibition, the 7th Zhejiang arts and crafts biennale, and the Jinhua folk arts and crafts exhibition.
The invitational exhibition, the event's centerpiece, features 247 works by 50 artisans from across the country. A dedicated section presents 90 exceptional pieces by 22 previous winners of the Shanhua Award, China's most prestigious folk art award. The exhibited works span a range of categories, including ceramics, woodcarvings, lacquerware, embroidery, paper-cutting, shadow puppets, and clay sculptures.
The 17th Shanhua Award exhibition features 75 works selected from 28 provinces and cities, while the 7th Zhejiang arts and crafts biennale showcases nearly 200 works that reflect Zhejiang artisans' exploration of materials and aesthetics.
Meanwhile, the Jinhua folk arts and crafts exhibition highlights over 80 regional pieces, including Dongyang woodcarvings, Wuzhou kiln ceramics, and Yongkang tin carvings, celebrating Jinhua's cultural heritage and aesthetic traditions.
The exhibition not only celebrates craftsmanship but also explores the contemporary value of folk art, offering a unique opportunity to experience the richness and innovation of Chinese folk art.
