Ningbo's foreign trade from Jan-Oct hits 1.21 trillion yuan

Ningbo Customs has announced the city's foreign trade results for the first 10 months of 2025, showing resilience amid global challenges. Total imports and exports reached 1.21 trillion yuan ($169 billion), up 2.6 percent year-on-year, with exports rising 4 percent to 812.27 billion yuan and imports holding steady at 394 billion yuan.
The European Union remains Ningbo's largest trading partner, with trade totaling 209.61 billion yuan, up 4.1 percent year-on-year. Trade with ASEAN surged 14.7 percent to 175.47 billion yuan, and African trade climbed 21.7 percent to 72.21 billion yuan. Trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 610.35 billion yuan, accounting for more than half of Ningbo's total.
The city's private firms contributed 933.85 billion yuan to trade, up 4.2 percent, accounting for 77.4 percent of the city's total. Their exports rose 5.5 percent, while imports edged up 1.2 percent, underscoring their vitality in driving growth.
Electromechanical products accounted for the largest share of exports, totaling 472.98 billion yuan, up 5.9 percent. The new trio of green product exports showed exceptional momentum: electric vehicles soared 234.8 percent, lithium-ion batteries rose 9.3 percent, and industrial robots expanded 114 percent.
Bulk commodity imports exceeded 60 billion yuan, with strong gains in copper, rubber, and glass. High-tech imports also expanded, led by integrated circuits, which surged 36.7 percent.
