Sanmen blue crab sees higher regional brand ranking

Sanmen county is located on the northeast coast of Taizhou, Zhejiang province. Its good natural conditions and environment make it the best place in China to raise blue crabs.
The county’s aquaculture area exceeds 200,000 mu (13,333 hectares), making it the top producer of Chinese blue crabs and small Chinese seafood, and the largest county in the province for marine aquaculture.
In 2022, the county had a crab farming area of 80,000 mu and a production volume of 13,700 metric tons with an output value exceeding 2 billion yuan ($284.54 million).
With the popularity of Sanmen blue crabs on e-commerce platforms, retail prices have risen to 300 yuan per kilogram. Meanwhile, Sanmen has cultivated 200,000 mu of blue crabs in Jiangsu, Shandong, Tianjin, Liaoning and other places and 60,000 mu in Malaysia and Mozambique.
The brand value of Sanmen blue crabs has exceeded 4.6 billion yuan and it has become a common prosperity brand for implementing rural vitalization strategies and consolidating poverty alleviation achievements.
