The Tianyu Changying Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Production Base in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province started operations on Oct 10.
The base is a partnership between Taizhou, China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO), and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA).
Shen Mingquan, acting mayor of Taizhou, expressed his excitement about the project during the inauguration ceremony. He believes that the collaboration will greatly enhance the development of the UAV industry in Taizhou, expressing his hope that NORINCO and BUAA can leverage their expertise in the aerospace industry to further deepen cooperation with Taizhou across various sub-sectors, establishing a cooperative and mutually beneficial development system.
An advanced manufacturing hub in the Yangtze River Delta, Taizhou has been actively promoting strategic emerging industries, with a focus on aerospace. The city boasts two national-level industrial bases for the aerospace industry housing over 40 companies. These companies have achieved a total industrial output value of over 18 billion yuan ($2.47 billion), reflecting a yearly growth of 15.9 percent. The aerospace industry in Taizhou has been recognized as among the first batch of future industry pilot zones in Zhejiang province.
