Two dramas from Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, will make their appearance at the 18th China Theatre Festival set to be held in Hangzhou from Nov 11 to 27.

My Fanglin Village and The First Ray of Sunshine will be showcased at the festival, marking the first time a Taizhou drama has been selected for this prominent national event.

Since its inception in 1988, the China Theatre Festival has been held every two years. It is an important platform for showcasing outstanding works in the national drama industry and is the highest-level art event in the field of Chinese drama.

In May, My Fanglin Village premiered at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the capital of China. This dramatization of Taizhou Luantan, a traditional local opera with a history dating back nearly 400 years, marks the third performance by the Taizhou Luantan Troupe at the center, following Qi Jiguang and My Dachen Island.

Meanwhile, The First Ray of Sunshine, which tells a story of democratic consultation, has also gained wide applause following its premiere in Hangzhou in August.
