The tourism market in Taizhou boomed during the recently concluded eight-day Spring Festival holiday, which began on Feb 10.

According to the Taizhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports, the city received a total of 3.43 million visitors, marking a 25.49 percent uptick compared to the previous year.

Notably, overnight visitors in Taizhou extended their stays to an average of 4.7 days, securing the city's top ranking in Zhejiang province for visitor duration.

The City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou, located in the county-level city of Linhai, experienced an influx of 228,000 visitors, positioning it as the third most visited scenic spot in the province.

Shepan Island, a renowned scenic attraction in Sanmen county, also witnessed a surge in visitor numbers, with its various attractions nearing maximum capacity. Cheng Zhen, manager of the tour guide service department at Shepan Island Scenic Area, reported a daily visitor flow of around 7,000 people, approximately five times the typical number of visitors.

In addition to local tourists from Taizhou, a significant influx of out-of-town visitors, primarily from locations such as Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Guangzhou, contributed to a substantial increase in consumption in the city.
