The Spring Festival concluded on an uplifting note for the tourism market in Linhai this year, seeing a dramatic surge in visitor numbers and tourism revenue in the county-level city of Taizhou.

According to official statistics from the Linhai Bureau of Culture and Tourism, major scenic spots in Linhai received over 2.57 million visitors and grossed a whopping 772 million yuan ($107.25 million) during the holiday period from Feb 10 to 17. This represents an increase of 85.91 percent and 86.09 percent, respectively, compared with the same period last year.

During the eight-day break, the City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou emerged as the hottest tourism destination in the city, welcoming an average of 228,000 visitors daily. This secured its position as the third most visited among 259 scenic spots at the national 4A-level or above across Zhejiang.

Despite being a national 5A scenic spot, the City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou is still home to 28,000 residents. Notably, a renowned attraction in the ancient city, Ziyang Street is the longest and most well-preserved historical block in the country.

A visitor surnamed Jiang from Shanghai expressed his admiration for the ancient city, remarking, "I have visited many ancient cities across the country, but this one is very different. It's not a newly developed scenic area; it's a living ancient city."

In addition to the City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou, other scenic spots in Linhai, including the tourism resort themed around the cartoon series Boonie Bears, Baisha Bay, and Kuocang Mountain, experienced an influx of visitors.
