Taizhou in Zhejiang province is driving its agricultural digital revolution forward by intensifying the construction of digital agriculture-powered factories.
Recently, 11 companies in Taizhou were recognized as digital agriculture factories in Zhejiang, displaying their achievements in the digital transformation of the sector.
One standout example was Taizhou Fengchan Aquaculture Co. Specializing in blue crab cultivation, the company's smart cultivation boxes have revolutionized traditional practice in the field. The boxes, totaling 30,000, can collectively cultivate around 30,000 kilograms of blue crabs within a space of just 0.2 hectares.
Guan Qingfu, head of the company, emphasized that digital technology enables year-round production, breaking free from seasonal constraints.
"We use a water treatment system and a thermostatic system to keep the water temperature at about 16 C, which is best for the crabs to grow," he added.
Meanwhile, at Zhejiang Shuoyou Agricultural Technology Development Co's digital agriculture factory, advanced sensors and automation are transforming its citrus cultivation.
Virus-free seedlings are thriving in individual pots with water and nutrients automatically supplied through tubes.
"The sensors monitor the soil condition and transmit the data to our phones," said General Manager Mou Wangbin. "We can control the water and nutrients and adjust the living environment for seedlings via the phone."
The digital technologies not only enhance efficiency and reduce costs but also mitigate the risks of viral infections, ensuring healthy plant growth.
