In response to the United States' recent tariff hikes, foreign trade enterprises in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, have been expanding their international and domestic markets, seeking opportunities amid challenges, and carving out new paths for development.

Taizhou Chenda Sanitary Ware Co specializes in various bathtub products, exporting to over 10 countries, with half of those going to the US. Due to the tariff impact, the company has faced delays in over $4 million worth of US orders.

To secure new orders, the company has been actively participating in domestic and international trade fairs. It has intensified efforts to develop clientele in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe. Recent successful cooperation agreements with clients from Turkiye and Poland have been noted, according to Huang Junjun, the company's general manager.

Similarly affected by the US tariff hikes, Zhejiang Kaijia Crafts Co, located in Wenling county-level city, has also seen declines in US orders. The company produces straw hats and handbags exported to over 30 countries and regions.

To counter the impact, the company is focusing more on the domestic market in addition to developing new products and expanding overseas markets. The company hires professionals to make short videos about its products and posts them on domestic platforms like Taobao and Douyin for promotion.

Additionally, some highly internationalized companies in Taizhou, like QJMotor, are increasing their exports of self-owned brands to gain a larger share of the international market. This strategic move is helping them navigate the challenges of the US tariff landscape and secure their positions in the global market.
