The first "Luqiao Mini-Net Seafood Feast" opened at Jinqing town, Luqiao district, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Aug 7.
Known as the birthplace of "mini-net seafood" in Taizhou — a term for premium catches harvested by small fishing boats that set out to sea and return the same day — Jinqing is renowned for delivering extreme freshness from the fishing boat to the table. The event allowed diners to enjoy local specialties such as mantis shrimp and white crab at the peak of seasonal freshness.
A highlight of the event was the "Zhui Xian Market (Chasing Freshness Market)", where seafood freshly brought ashore was delivered directly to vendor stalls. Cooking services also let visitors enjoy or take home the seafood right away. These offerings catered to strong local demand following the end of the fishing moratorium, a time when interest in the first fresh catch is at its peak.
The event provided an immersive culinary experience centered on Jinqing's signature freshness and marine culture. With the seafood season just beginning, the feast captured the community's excitement for reconnecting with the ocean's bounty.
