A new school jointly established by Jiaojiang district and East China Normal University was inaugurated on Aug 30 in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, with the inauguration of ECNU Affiliated Taizhou East School.
Located in Shanghai, ECNU is a leading institution recognized for its strengths in teacher education and basic education. Following the success of ECNU Affiliated Taizhou School, the new East campus represents a deeper stage of cooperation between them.
Construction on the expansion project began in June 2024, upgrading the former Haicheng School site in Jiaojiang. With a total investment of about 340 million yuan ($47.59 million), the whole project is scheduled for full completion by September 2026. Once finished, the school will operate 72 classes and provide more than 2,000 high-quality student places.
For the fall semester this year, the school has opened four first-grade primary classes and 12 junior high classes. The facility is expected to meet the growing demand for quality education in eastern Jiaojiang.
