The Taizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone in East China's Zhejiang province saw its first bonded export of Geely knock-down (KD) auto parts on Sept 23, when 26 container trucks loaded at Geely's Linhai facility passed through the zone's smart checkpoint before heading to Toumen Port for shipment to Indonesia.
The model, which involves shipping semi-finished auto parts overseas for final assembly, lowers logistics costs while allowing companies to adapt quickly to local demand. With Geely expanding in global markets, KD exports have become a key driver of efficiency and competitiveness. Geely's Linhai facility produces both SUVs and sedans, and its Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i, already launched in Australia, is set to enter nearly 20 countries — including Poland, Indonesia, Thailand, and Mexico — this year.
According to Zhejiang Jisu Logistics Co Ltd, the bonded exports of KD parts through Taizhou improve flexibility in meeting international orders. Projections indicate that by 2026, the business will reach 6,000 units, generating annual trade of over 1 billion yuan ($140 million) and facilitating around 4,500 container exports.
