In the fourth episode of A Gift from Taizhou, Ayoub Bourachid from Morocco visits Zhejiang Yichen Billiards in Linhai, a county-level city in Taizhou, to witness the making of a world-class billiard cue — an artistry honed through six years of craftsmanship refinement.
Intrigued by the fame of Yichen's top-tier cues, Ayoub set out to find a special cue as a gift for his father. At the factory, he observed the entire process of cue-making — from the meticulous selection of wood, through over a hundred precise procedures, to years of careful refinement. Every step reflected the artisans' dedication, precision, and pursuit of perfection.
Founded in 1988, Yichen is a renowned billiard equipment manufacturer with over 30 years of expertise in cue production. As one of the world's largest manufacturing bases for both English and American-style cues, the company owns well-known brands such as O'Min and Cueless. Each cue undergoes more than 100 rigorous steps and takes five to six years to complete, adhering to strict standards for wood selection and stability. Today, Yichen's products are sold in dozens of countries and regions worldwide, and the company continues to strengthen its global presence by partnering with top players and organizing international tournaments.
