Puyuan Town - 60 kilometers from Hangzhou, 100 km from Shanghai and 80 km from Suzhou - is the center of the golden delta region of Shanghai, and Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. It boasts very convenient traffic transport system and is one of the biggest distribution centers for woolen sweaters in China.

Puyuan silk trade has a history of several hundred years. In the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, most residents made a living from silk. The woolen sweater knitting trade in Puyuan rose in the early 1980s. In 1988, the Puyuan government built the woolen sweater market in the west of the town, covering 1.5 square km and housing over 800 proprietary brands. Now it consists of 10 business districts, and has a subsidiary raw material market, a wool yarn market, a clothing town, a freight transport center, and an unloading center.
