Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing in Zhejiang province - along with Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing and West Lake in Hangzhou - has been dubbed as the "Three Renowned Lakes" of the south Yangtze River.

In 1921, the first Communist Party of China National Congress reconvened in a red boat on the lake after it was interrupted by authorities in what was then the French concession in Shanghai.

The scenic spot boasts charming scenery and the renowned poet Su Shi (1037-1101) during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) also gave high praise to the lake. It includes an ancient garden complex and the revered Nanhu Lake Revolutionary Memorial is a must-see spot.

Nanhu Lake is a national 5A scenic spot and also a national classic red scenic spot, attracting a huge number of travelers every year.
