Established in 1932, Jiaxing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital is a 3A-grade hospital specializing in maternity and child health care and integrating medical treatment, health care, scientific research and teaching. It is a State-level standardized training base for resident doctors.

The hospital currently covers 100 mu (about 6.67 hectares) and has a gross floor area of 142,300 square meters. It will boast 920 beds after completion of its second phase.

With outstanding discipline advantages and distinctive specialty features, the hospital enjoys a high reputation in and out of Zhejiang province. The hospital's perinatology discipline was jointly constructed by Zhejiang province and Jiaxing city and its reproductive medicine center is a construction unit of the provincial reproductive medicine innovation team.

Jiaxing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital has two key disciplines supported by the city – pediatrics and pediatric surgery, three key innovation disciplines – breast disease, reproductive medicine and fetal medicine, and a TCM key innovation discipline – children's rehabilitation integrating Chinese and Western medicine. What's more, it has two municipal key innovation teams and a municipal key laboratory.

The largest neonatal treatment center, the NICU (neonatal intensive care center), and the only pediatric surgery intensive care center (PSICU) in Jiaxing are located in the hospital, making contributions to the subspecialty construction of pediatric digestion, pediatric breathing and pediatric endocrine.

Undertaking the guiding duties of the city's maternal and child and public health affairs, Jiaxing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital actively provides healthcare to women and children and has been recognized as a demonstration base for early childhood development in Zhejiang province.
