Qiyuan Garden is one of the top 10 gardens in China. Located in Haiyan county on the north coast of Hangzhou Bay, Qiyuan is a first-class garden in Jiangnan – the southern Yangtze River region. Chen Congzhou, contemporary landscape scientist professor praised the garden as the best in Zhejiang province.

Qiyuan covers 10,000 square meters, with 2,000 sq m of water and 7,000 sq m of tree coverage. There are roughly 1,000 trees in the garden, among which are more than 40 ancient trees still standing after a century of wind and rain.

The whole outline of the garden, represents the concept of "water around the mountain, the mountain relies on water". The garden is designed mainly around trees, mountains and pools, and is lightly decorated with towers and pavilions, similar to today's landscaped gardens.

In addition, the garden is a separate area, not attached to the modern residential area.

The small bridges in the garden are zigzag bridges connecting the mountains and rivers, forming a separate landscape. The southern area of the garden contains typical Jiangnan folk houses, which complements the garden in terms of structural view.
