Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province rolled out measures to support farmers and maintain a stable supply of agricultural products, according to local media reports on Feb 17.

The measures will be effective from Jan 22 until the end of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak.

One-time subsidies of 300 yuan ($42.94) per mu will be given to farmers who grow more than five mu (0.33 hectares) of fast-growing leafy vegetables from Feb 1 to March 15 and put them on the market before the end of April. One-time subsidies of 150 yuan per mu will be given to farmers who interplant such vegetables in orchards.

Low-income farmers who grow at least one mu of fast-growing leafy vegetables during the same period will enjoy the same subsidies.

One-time subsidies (one yuan for each pigeon and two yuan for each chicken, duck and goose) will be given to leading poultry farming companies, including farmers' cooperatives, in Jiaxing and designated poultry slaughtering companies which purchase more than 50,000 live poultry in the province.

One-time subsidies (one yuan per kilogram for fresh water and two yuan per kilogram for shrimp, crab, and turtle) will be given to aquaculturists that sell more than 2,000 kg of aquatic products.

Local agricultural processors are encouraged to purchase local farm produce and local farmers are encouraged to offer no-contact delivery to meet the daily needs of local residents.

Traffic permit priority is given to vehicles transporting agricultural products.
