Tourism companies in Jiaxing receive over 4m-yuan subsidy

Sixty-one tourism companies in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province have received subsidies totaling 4.43 million yuan ($628,000) from local authorities, local media reported on March 16.

The Jiaxing municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting, television and tourism allocated special funds to subsidize local tourism companies which are severely affected by the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, including travel agencies, hotels and A-level scenic spots.

Travel agencies engaged in outbound tourism will receive a subsidy of 80,000 yuan, while travel agencies engaged in inbound and domestic tourism will receive a maximum subsidy of 60,000 yuan.

5A-level scenic spots will receive a subsidy of 200,000 yuan, while 150,000 yuan, 50,000, and 20,000 yuan will be given to 4A-level, 3A-level, and 2A-level scenic spots respectively.

Starred hotels will receive a subsidy of up to 200,000 yuan, while other hotels will receive a subsidy of up to 120,000 yuan.

Tourism and cultural companies in Jiaxing may also enjoy preferential policies, including social insurance premium cuts or exemptions, unemployment insurance expense refunds, and lower water and electricity costs.

In addition, the Jiaxing bureau has refunded 41.91 million yuan in tourism service quality deposits to 152 travel agencies to date, according to Zhang Shuo, head of the bureau.

Zhang noted that the bureau has cooperated with the Bank of Jiaxing and the Jiaxing branch of the Agricultural Bank of China to offer low interest-loans to local cultural and tourism companies.

He also said that they have sent staff members to visit the companies and help them solve difficulties in resuming operations.
