Hangzhou Chocolate Novor Food Co Ltd decided to establish a production base and sales headquarters for its Novor chocolate in Majiabang Healthy Food Town, Jiaxing on March 25.

The production base, at a cost of 200 million yuan ($28.12 million) and covering an area of 40 mu (2.67 hectares), is projected to start construction before September and complete sometime in 2021.

The base is expected to produce 15,000 tons of chocolate and other snacks per year on automatic production lines imported from Germany and Switzerland, bringing in an annual sales revenue of no less than 500 million yuan.

Hangzhou Chocolate Novor Food Co Ltd is one of top three chocolate producers in China. The company has created domestic well-known brands, including Novor and Cocofeel, and developed a variety of baked foods.

The company plans to increase investment in research and development and establish a R&D center in Switzerland to improve the quality and variety of its products and expand its market at home and abroad.

The Majiabang Healthy Food Town in Jiaxing is renowned for the Majiabang ruins, and is the birthplace of rice-farming culture in China with a history of more than 7,000 years. The town has attracted more than 10 international food brands, including Mars, Abbott, Monin, and Michielan.
