The third Red Boat Forum was held in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on August 3, Jiaxing Daily reported.

The forum was sponsored by Guangming Daily, the publicity departments of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the CPC Jiaxing Municipal Committee.

The forum reviewed the promotion of the Red Boat spirit and explored its practical implications.

In 1921, the first CPC National Congress reconvened in a red boat on Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing after it was interrupted by authorities in what was then the French concession of Shanghai.

"Red Boat spirit" refers to a pioneering and creative spirit, an indomitable struggling spirit of firm ideals, and a spirit dedicated to working for the public.

Che Jun, Party secretary of Zhejiang, said at the forum that the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee has always placed a high value on the preservation of the Red Boat spirit.

This has helped Zhejiang's economy recover and achieve positive growth over the first half of this year, Che added.

Zhang Zheng, editor-in-chief of Guangming Daily, said that since its inception in 2018, the Red Boat Forum has become an important platform for the study and promotion of the Red Boat spirit and has also gained extensive attention and recognition.

Zhang said that the agency will continue to study the significance and value of the Red Boat spirit.

"Jiaxing will spare no effort to promote the Red Boat spirit and support the development of the Zhejiang Red Boat Spirit Institute," said Zhang Bing, Party secretary of Jiaxing, "The city's strong economic and social development can be attributed to this spirit."
