Tianyi Textile Co in Haining, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, recently cooperated with a renowned designer to produce hanfu, the traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group, local media reported on Nov 29.

Tianyi is a traditional textile company dedicated to manufacturing jacquard and fashion fabric and was recognized as a State-level high-tech company in 2014.

During its search for new breakthroughs, Tianyi noticed that hanfu has been becoming increasingly popular among consumers in recent years. As such, the company decided to work with Chu Yan, associate professor of the School of Arts and Engineering at Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology, to set up a new company Chuhe Juese to produce hanfu.

Lu Jianping, general manager of Tianyi, said that the company is also cooperating with museums in China to recreate and restore the Chinese clothing worn during each of the country's historical periods.

According to Lu, Tianyi Textile Co once spent 300,000 yuan ($46,000) to restore a piece of clothing from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The restored piece was later donated to Shangdong Museum.

Another business aspect of Chuhe Juese is producing more stylish and practical versions of hanfu and integrating Western elements, added Lu.
