Residents in the Yangtze River Delta region will find it easier to transfer their household registration from one province to another starting from Feb 19, local media reported.

The Yangtze River Delta or YRD is a triangle-shaped megalopolis — broadly made up of the areas in East China of Shanghai city, Jiangsu province, Zhejiang province, and Anhui province — which generates some 20 per cent of the country's GDP.

The easier household transfer are available in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Hefei, capital of Anhui.

Residents in these cities will only need to apply at the local police station where they want to transfer to, rather than needing to travel back and forth and those who want to transfer their registration to Zhejiang can apply through online service platforms.
