More than 90 percent of the companies above a designated size in Jiaxing, the prefecture-level city located in East China's Zhejiang province, will resume operations before the Lantern Festival on Feb 26, the Jiaxing Daily reported.

Companies with a designated size is a statistical term, referring to businesses with an annual turnover of 20 million yuan ($3.1 million) or more.

"Our four factories in Jiaxing all resumed operations on Feb 18," said Liu Yingchen from the Minth Group which established its subsidiary, Jiaxing Minhui Auto Parts Co, in the city.

Currently, Minhui has more than 1,800 employees there, nearly 80 percent of whom come from outside Zhejiang.

"Responding to the call of staying put in Jiaxing for the Spring Festival holiday from Feb 11-17, nearly half of Minhui's workers from other provinces remained in the city and so on Feb 15, 50 percent of Minhui's staff were able to return for work," Liu explained.

He said that a large number of orders motivated the company to resume operations that early and the order book in the first quarter of this year had increased 10 percent than projected.

According to a survey by the municipal economy and information technology department, a total of 422 companies in the city resumed operations before Feb 19, accounting for 40.66 percent of the total respondents and 93.06 percent of those surveyed were expected to restart before Feb 26.

Some 420 companies had over 60 percent of their workforce staying put in Jiaxing for the Spring Festival, accounting for 43.66 percent of the total respondents and 735 companies saw more than 60 percent of their employees return to work as of Feb 19.
