The practice of Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, in improving local living environment will be promoted nationwide, local media reported on March 3.

In 2020, the city passed the comprehensive provincial assessment in National Health City. Thirty-six of the total 42 towns in Jiaxing have received the national title, the highest proportion in Zhejiang.

Besides, all the 788 villages in the city have won provincial recognition in sanitary environment.

Last year, Jiaxing continued promoting toilet revolution and finished the transformation and upgrading of 83 public washrooms, also ranking first in the province.

The daily transportation amount of the household waste (including kitchen waste) in Jiaxing totaled 5,999.14 metric tons over the past year, the first city in Zhejiang realizing household waste's zero year-on-year increase and zero landfill.

More than 90 percent of the surface water of Jiaxing municipal government-controlled rivers' sections met the requirement for drinking water sources in 2020 while 87.2 percent of the days in the same year had a good air quality with average 28 microgram per cubic meter in PM 2.5 concentration.

In addition, a total of 4,425 health lectures were carried out around Jiaxing last year, bringing benefits to 204,400 residents.
