Jiaxing's exports up 269.7% year-on-year in Feb

The exports in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province experienced a record growth in February this year with a 269.7 percent year-on-year increase, according to Jiaxing Customs on March 4.

In the first two months of this year, Jiaxing's foreign trade totaled 52.48 billion yuan ($8.04 billion), a year-on-year increase of 43.9 percent.

The export value in the city soared 54.5 percent year-on-year to 39.83 billion yuan, while its import value jumped 18.3 percent year-on-year to 12.64 billion yuan.

The four largest import-export traders with Jiaxing in January and February were the United States, the European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and Japan, with respective values of 9.54 billion yuan, 9.19 billion yuan, 8.45 billion yuan, as well as 3.76 billion yuan.

In the first two months of this year, Jiaxing traded 16.88 billion yuan with the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, a year-on-year increase of 50.8 percent.

Mechanical and electrical products, labor-intensive products, as well as high-tech products were the three largest exports of the city, with respective trading amounts of 20.17 billion yuan, 14.09 billion yuan, and 7.35 billion yuan.

Moreover, the export value of private companies in Jiaxing surged 60.8 percent year-on-year to 26.6 billion yuan, while local foreign-invested companies exported 11.96 billion yuan during the same period, a year-on-year increase of 46.5 percent and accounting for 30 percent of the city's total amount.
