The relay race marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China is set to be held at 7:30 am in Shanghai and Jiaxing on April 11, according to a news conference held in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province on April 7.
The 132.8-kilometer race starts in Shanghai and ends in Jiaxing, and is divided into eight sections.
Three of the relay points are located in Jiaxing – the Xiangfudang Lake Sci-Tech Green Valley in Xitang, Jiashan county, the Jiashan county government, and the Daqiao town government in Nanhu district.
The end point is located in Huijing Park of Nanhu Lake where the first National Congress of CPC was concluded.
The race's promotional image features places such as Shanghai shikumens in 1921 and the red boat where the CPC held its first national congress, and Shanghai's symbolic buildings in 2021.
To ensure a safe competition, 37 medical stations will be established along the race route. Ambulances, volunteers and first-aid teams will also be present.
The event is sponsored by the Shanghai Sports Bureau, the Zhejiang Sports Bureau, the Jiaxing municipal government, and Donghao Lansheng (Group) Co.
