Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province ranked first in rural income and had the smallest income gap between urban and rural residents in the province in the first three months of this year, local media reported on April 20.

The per capita disposable income of rural residents in the city stood at 14,181 yuan ($2,182) in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 17.7 percent.

The figure included 9,602 yuan in wages, a year-on-year increase of 18.5 percent, 2,952 yuan in net operating income, a year-on-year increase of 12.8 percent, 658 yuan in net property income, a year-on-year increase of 24.9 percent, and 968 yuan in net transfer income, a year-on-year increase of 21.4 percent.

During the same period, the ratio of urban to rural residents in Jiaxing was 1.46, the smallest urban-rural gap in Zhejiang.

The per capita disposable income of urban residents in Jiaxing totaled 20,730 yuan in the January-March period this year, a record high for the period and a 16.7 percent year-on-year increase.

The figure included 13,928 yuan in wages, a year-on-year increase of 16.8 percent, 2,596 yuan in net operating income, a year-on-year increase of 14.1 percent, 1,834 yuan in net property income, a year-on-year increase of 19.8 percent, and 2,372 yuan in net transfer income, a year-on-year increase of 16.7 percent.
