An art exhibition was held at Jiaxing Museum in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province on April 22 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), local media reported.

The exhibits have been selected from more than 1,000 pieces that express passionate appreciation to the country, the Party, and its people.

Chen Jiayuan, chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Charity Federation, said at the opening ceremony that it is unprecedented for a charity organization to host an art exhibition of this scale in the country.

He noted that the charity undertakings in Zhejiang have grown and that the role of culture in promoting the high-quality development of charity undertakings is irreplaceable.

Zhang Bing, Party secretary of Jiaxing, extended warm congratulations on the exhibition's successful organization on behalf of the local authorities.

After giving a brief overview on the city's economic and social development, he noted that the exhibition is of great importance to promoting the outstanding traditional Chinese culture and creating a strong atmosphere for CPC centenary celebrations.

Jiaxing has bolstered efforts to develop charity undertakings in recent years by helping people in need, improving the living facilities of low-income families, and implementing public welfare programs, Zhang added.

At the opening ceremony, Song Tao, head of the Hangzhou Calligraphy Academy, donated his calligraphy works to Jiaxing.

The activity was sponsored by the Zhejiang Provincial Charity Federation, Zhejiang Calligraphers Association, Zhejiang Artists Association, and three Jiaxing municipal authorities.
