The added value of industries above designated size in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province totaled 76.17 billion yuan ($11.84 billion) in the first four months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 29.9 percent, according to statistics from the city's municipal authorities.

The increase was 2.4 and 9.6 percentage points higher than the national and provincial averages respectively.

Jiaxing experienced an average increase of 11 percent over the past three years in the added value of industries above designated size, 0.8 and 4 percentage points higher than the national and provincial averages.

The added value of the metalware, automobile, computer communications, general equipment, and electric apparatus industries increased higher than the municipal average with the respective rates of 58.5 percent, 57.7 percent, 57.4 percent, 42.3 percent, as well as 34.1 percent.

Private companies above designated size witnessed a 31.3 percent increase in added value from January to April, while small and medium-sized companies increased 36.2 percent and 32.4 percent in added value during the same period.

The sales output of industries above designated size in Jiaxing increased 44.5 percent year-on-year in the first four months of the year, while the export delivery value grew 46.4 percent year-on-year.

In the first quarter of the year, the total taxes and profits of industries above designated size in the city jumped 126.5 percent year-on-year to 20.84 billion yuan, 31 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

In addition, the Jiaxing government also renovated 1,558 companies or workshops that had low efficiency or emitted high pollution for environmental reasons in the Jan-April period.
