Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province hosted the Red Boat cultural tourism festival on May 22 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Community Party of China (CPC), local media reported.

Zhang Bing, Party secretary of Jiaxing, said at the launch ceremony that the city has taken measures to bring more red cultural elements to the Nanhu Lake scenic area, where the first CPC National Congress was convened 100 years ago, and develop relevant creative products in recent years.

Taking advantage of the tourism festival, Jiaxing will further boost its red tourism economy and achieve common development with other red tourism cities in the country, added Zhang.

From May to July, Jiaxing will organize various activities to demonstrate its attractiveness, including an innovative planning competition for red tourism, tours of the sites of the first CPC National Congress, fairs for innovative red tourism products, as well as a cultural and tourism cooperation conference in the Yangtze River Delta.

At the opening ceremony, Jiaxing and other cities abundant in red tourism resources, including Shanghai, Ji'an, Ruijin, Zuiyi, Yan'an, and Shijiazhuang, unveiled inter-city red tourism routes.

The cultural and tourism consumption season in Zhejiang also kicked off on the same day, during which tourists can enjoy entrance ticket waivers, as well as discounts on hotels and homestays in the province.

The Red Boat cultural tourism festival was sponsored by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Jiaxing Municipal Party Committee of the CPC, as well as the Jiaxing Municipal Government.
