One hundred years ago, the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China was convened on a red boat over Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, marking the CPC's founding.

Since that fateful day, the red boat spirit has been inspiring Jiaxing's development. Taking the wellbeing of the people as its first priority, Jiaxing has since evolved into a city with the most well-off villages and happiest villagers in the country.

Though it has the second smallest area in Zhejiang, Jiaxing's fiscal revenue exceeds 100 billion yuan ($15.45 billion), ranking fifth among prefecture-level cities in the country. This prosperity has helped the city's population grow by another million in the last 10 years.
