Jiaxing's GDP expands 13.9% in H1

The GDP of Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province totaled 294.21 billion yuan ($45.2 billion) in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 13.9 percent, according to the local statistics bureau.

The city's GDP growth rate was 1.2 percentage points and 0.5 percentage points higher than the national and provincial averages.

Despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, Jiaxing's average annual GDP growth rate for the past two years reached 7 percent, said the bureau.

In the same period, the added value from the city's primary industries reached 5.55 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent, while the added values of its secondary and tertiary industries hit 156.73 billion yuan and 131.93 billion yuan, up by 16.4 percent and 11.6 percent year-on-year respectively.

The added value from Jiaxing's agriculture, forestry, husbandry, and fishery industries reached 6.02 billion yuan in the January-June period, up 4.8 percent year-on-year.

In the first six months of this year, the added value of the city's major industrial sectors increased by 22.6 percent year-on-year to 117.81 billion yuan. The average annual growth rate of these sectors over the past two years reached 10.4 percent, which was 3.4 percentage points and 0.3 percentage points higher than that of the country and the province.

Among them, computer communications, metal products, and automobile manufacturing witnessed surging increases of 46.9 percent, 45.4 percent, as well as 45.2 percent respectively.

The imports and exports of the city increased 36.8 percent year-on-year to 175.09 billion yuan in the Jan-June period.

In H1, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in Jiaxing hit 35,405 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.8 percent, while for rural residents, it still led the province with 24,786 yuan, up 14.3 percent.
