The Jiaxing Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, recently launched a new mode of imports called "1210" to facilitate local cross-border e-commerce businesses.

Trucks loaded with imported diapers worth over 200,000 yuan ($30,898) left the bonded zone on Aug 31. About 16,800 yuan in import and customs duties was saved because of the new mode.

The goods are expected to be delivered to consumers in Jiaxing and the cities in Yangtze River Delta.

Under such an import mode, e-commerce platforms can purchase a large number of goods from abroad according to market forecasting and consumer demand and store them in comprehensive bonded zones before delivering them to consumers.

An official from Jiaxing Customs said that this mode is more cost-effective and has better custom clearance and logistical efficiency.

In 2020, the State Council approved the establishment of the China (Jiaxing) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone. Since the first half of this year, all comprehensive bonded zones in the country have been eligible to start pilot programs for cross-border retail imports.
