Zhejiang's largest offshore wind turbine operates in Jiaxing

A 7-megawatt offshore wind turbine, the largest of its kind in Zhejiang province, started operating in the offshore wind plant in Pinghu, Jiaxing on Oct 25.

With a total investment of 5.3 billion yuan ($827 million), the Zhejiang Energy Jiaxing No 1 offshore wind plant is designed to include 74 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 301.2 megawatts.

All of the 74 wind turbines will be installed in the offshore wind plant this year and they are capable of satisfying the year-round electricity demands of residents in the urban area of Pinghu.

The offshore wind plant is expected to generate 870 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy, save 282,000 metric tons of standard coal, as well as reduce the carbon dioxide emission of 576,000 tons and the sulfur dioxide emission of 10.47 million tons.
