Yellow-breasted buntings, a first-class State-protected bird, have been spotted in Haiyan, a county in Jiaxing during a bird survey organized by local government.

The World Conservation Union updated the rating of yellow-breasted buntings from endangered species to critically endangered species in 2017, and this year, the bird was listed as a first-class species under State protection.

Furthermore, 76 other species of birds have also been found in the county, including eight second-class State-protected birds and nine that are currently under provincial protection.
