The Jiaxing Express Trade Union Federation was established in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 22.

In recent years, Jiaxing has witnessed a rapid development of its express delivery industry.

In 2020, the city's courier services companies delivered 960 million parcels, a year-on-year increase of 33.6 percent. In the first three quarters of this year, these courier services companies handled 780 million parcels, a year-on-year increase of 35.6 percent.

Currently, Jiaxing is home to 96 courier services suppliers and nearly 21,000 couriers.

"Although courier services companies have taken measures to support their employees, the establishment of the federation still gives us a sense of belonging and we hope that our job will get more attention and recognition," said Yang Xihang, head of ZTO Express in Jiaxing.

The newly-established federation will organize trainings and vocational skills competition among Jiaxing couriers to improve their professional competence, visit couriers living in poverty, and offer legal consultation services, according to a staff member from the Jiaxing Federation of Trade Unions.
