Three special towns in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province were recently rated as outstanding by the provincial government, local media reported on Nov 23.

Special towns are home to high-performance industries and developed based on their unique strengths, said a senior official from the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

Nanhu Fund Town is the first special town in China to prioritize the development of the fund industry.

The assets under the management of the funds at Nanhu Fund Town have grown from 3 billion yuan ($469.58 million) in 2012 to the current 2.7 trillion yuan.

To date, the fund town has organized 139 matchmaking meetings for investment and financing. The funds in the town have also invested 18.2 billion yuan in 223 entity enterprises in Zhejiang.

Nanhu Yunchuang Town aims to develop itself into an innovation growth driver of Jiaxing Science City. Last year, the town obtained another 42 patents for invention in digital economy and cultivated 14 high-tech digital companies. In addition, the town's investment in scientific research and development accounted for 6.1 percent of its main operating revenue.

The development of Haiyan Integrated Home Fashion Town revolves around the integrated household industry.

As the birthplace of China's integrated ceiling industry, the fashion town is home to more than 600 integrated home companies, including eight companies with annual revenue of 100 million yuan and has obtained more than 3,000 national patents.

Currently, the Haiyan Integrated Home Fashion Town has taken up more than 40 percent of the integrated home furnishing market in China.
