Jiashan, a county in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, was recently listed among the first batch of high-speed rail tourism towns in the Yangtze River Delta by the culture and tourism departments in Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, local media reported on Dec 16.

The high-speed railway station Jiashannan makes it convenient for tourists in the YRD to tour the county in a day.

A senior citizen surnamed Gu in Shanghai rode the high-speed rail to Miujia village in Jiashan earlier this year. After touring the village and eating the local delicacies, he and his wife returned to Shanghai at 3 pm on the same day.

Convenient transportation in Jiashan and other areas in the YRD allow senior residents in the region to have a more colorful retired life.

Jiashan is one of the birthplaces of Wuyue Culture, or Jiangsu-Zhejiang Culture, and boasts abundant cultural and tourism resources, including one national 5A scenic spot Xitang town and three national 4A scenic spots.

Businesses in Jiashan have also been growing quickly by integrating tourism with industrial development. For example, Dayun town plants flower and builds European style architecture around local factories to attract tourists, while the 22.67-hectare orchard located in a maker space provides fruit-picking and other agricultural entertainment activities.
